Seps is a snake from Medieval bestiaries. They had extremely corrosive venom that liquified their prey.[1] Shelley in Prometheus Unbound writes:
- ...all my being,
- Like him whom the Numidian seps did thaw
- Into a dew with poison, is dissolved...
